Lead AV Installation Technician

JOB SUMMARY

A Prodigy Lead Installation Technician is responsible for performing installation and programming tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: Pulling, terminating and testing field cables, Mounting displays and other components, Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints, Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and rack wiring, Projector and screen support structure installations, Program and test point to point functionality of AV and Lighting systems, Mentor Junior Technicians, Effectively communicate daily job status to the Project Manager. 

MAJOR ESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Lead and mentor Junior AV Installation Technicians.
  • Equipment placement and Mounting in accordance with system documentation and/or direction of Salesman and Project Manager.
  • Proficient in the structured cabling of projects which includes pulling, terminating, and testing all cable and wiring associated with audio/video devices.
  • Termination is performed in accordance with system requirements, documentation, and to Prodigy AV standards.
  • Oversee any equipment external to racks is installed appropriately and any low voltage panels or products are fabricated per the system documentation, or as directed by the Salesman or Project Manager.
  • All assigned tasks relating to job site work are completed in an organized and clean manner.
  • All assigned tasks are regularly completed within the budgeted time and performed to meet or exceed quality standards established by Prodigy AV.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and building drawings.
  • Ability to lead a team of 1-3 technicians on projects including low voltage control and lighting systems, or act as a site supervisor during certain stages of larger projects.
  • Ability to train clients on AV, lighting, and other systems as installed.
  • Document project changes and communicate back to project management for documentation.
  • Competently document daily project status reports and deliver/communicate status reports with project management daily.
  • Provide feedback to facilitate improvements to the installation process.
  • Provide any other support to ensure Prodigy operates to high standards daily.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift 75 pounds. This person will frequently be required to be on step ladders up to 12’ and extension ladders to 40’. Occasional use of a man-lift will also be required.

EXPERIENCE

1-2 years of AV installation experience is preferred

General construction knowledge is a plus

Comprehensive knowledge of hand and power tools
